You would think with the kind of money Microsoft charges for their operating system, they'd be able to afford to buy themselves a clue, but no such luck. A whole lot of fuss has been made as if Microsoft is going to support gaming in a big way with Windows 7, but it's all just posturing and empty promises on their part.
What's my problem with it? Well, would it be too much trouble to allow people to configure the deadzones on their analog sticks? Sure, you can calibrate the center and the range of motion...but where the ____ is the option to configure the deadzone? It seems game developers and Microsoft alike believe that analog sticks are perfect tools of engineering and do not have any play whatsoever in the stick. Games generally do not offer deadzone calibration and neither does the built-in calibration software of Windows 7. Oh, what's that you say, I need to replace my controller because it's obviously defective? WRONG! My controller is brand new. Sure, it may be a PS2 controller, and Sony isn't necessarily known for high-quality, but I digress. Would it be too much to ask to just release some kind of deadzone calibration tool? You guys released one long ago for the likes of Win98 and such, but it seems Microsoft just doesn't want to support their products anymore. Too busy thinking about Win8, couldn't care less about the one they already have out now. After all, you already got my money, and there's nothing to be gained by putting out free software.
I've searched and I've searched in vain looking for some kind of something here. So many games languishing on my hard drive, virtually unplayable, all because the controls are ____ without some kind of deadzone adjustment. Either too much deadzone (which is more the fault of the developer) or not enough (which can be helped on an OS level) -- causing the object of my control to move about without me even touching the controller. It's horrible when your screen is spinning around wildly or your car is drifting like it has a serious alignment/balancing problem.

Xbox 360 Controller Driver New Deadzone Download
As far as I can tell, there is no third-party solution. Much as I'd love to just download a reliable piece of software instead of counting on Microsoft to do something about it (Yeah, right!), the best you can get is mere key remapping software, which does absolutely nothing for analog unless you like trading your analog input for a mere digital one -- not really the solution I'm looking for. No third-party software I've found can do anything to override what is built into DirectX, therefore it really imperative that Microsoft themselves do something about this glaring issue.
I guess this isn't so much a question as it is a plea for sanity on the part of Microsoft. Maybe someone out there does know a third-party solution that can help me, but I'm not counting on it. I would rather contact Microsoft directly about this issue, but I just can't navigate this horrible, bloated monster of a website to figure out how (not that they'd even take my issue serious anyway).
