Knowing the model year of your Cub Cadet is mandatory if you need to find parts for it; it's also helpful if you wish to sell your equipment. Finding this information isn't always simple, but locating the model and serial number tag is pivotal in determining your model year. Some older products have this information stamped into the metal while newer models have it on a 2-inch by 3-inch sticker.

Locate the fifth number of the serial number to identify the last digit of the model year. For example, if the fifth digit is '5,' the model year could have been 1985, 1995 or 2005. On older International Cub Cadets, the serial number is at the end of a longer number and needs to be matched to the model year by either using the table in Resource 2 or by calling Cub Cadet.

Write down any information you can see about the equipment if you cannot read the sticker or stamp. Information Cub Cadet staff may need to help you identify the model year includes: brand name; engine model, numbers and engine manufacturer; tire size; time and location of purchase; blade number and width; and the number and location of the foot pedals.

Call Cub Cadet at 877-428-2349 or their technical support department directly at 800-965-4282 if you cannot decipher the model year information by looking at your tag. While the company placed the information in areas not likely to succumb to the elements or damage, stickers can still be ripped or become illegible.
